Humpolec town is surrounded by the marvellous landscape of the Czech-Moravian Highland inclusive lakes and Middle Ages castles Orlik and Lipnice. The town is well known as a birthplace of famous anthropologist Ales Hrdlicka, writer Jan Zabrana and music composer Gustav Mahler in the nearby village Kaliste.
